Community Involvement helps us to
understand our community, and allows us to share our good fortune with others.
We are actively involved in fundraising projects for many charities with our
Bay Tour Cruises
We support the Taylor Family Foundation, Contra Costa
Interfaith Housing, Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, Special Olympics,
Soroptimists, and several local elementary and high schools.
We are also active in Northern California Special
Olympics; we were awarded Volunteer Couple of the Year for 2007. Renee
was recognized individually as Volunteer of the Year for 2009. Renee
also helps organize events for the Multiple
Sclerosis Foundation.
Kevin serves on the Board of Directors for the
Berkeley Yacht Club, currently as Vice Commodore, and is one of the organizers
of the 2010 Sarcoma Cup Regatta
Proceeds go to Beat Sarcoma,
which funds research at Stanford and UCSF. Kevin is also a
fundraising-event leader for
Pegasus Project, which is dedicated to introducing underprivileged
children to sailings and other on-water activities.
Kevin is 2010 Chair of the Berkeley Yacht Club's
Youth Sailing Program, and is a past volunteer coach for Lafayette Moraga
Youth Association and Lafayette Peanut League. While in college, he was
active in student government at Diablo Valley College, Cal Berkeley, and Notre
Dame MBA program. At the former he was President of the Associated
Student, and at the latter he was volunteer leader of a recruitment program to
attract women and minority MBA candidates. And participated in an
outreach program to assist small business development in South Bend.
We have also been very active in opposing
irresponsible development in the community. Our most recent
involvement is with
Save
Acalanes Ridge preventing the unsightly development of Acalanes Ridge
between Lafayette and Walnut Creek. Our own project
No2Blight.com is at present devoted to
that issue, but available for involvement in other causes.
